Bay Area Older Adults is Awarded $15,000 URJGENT Grant from Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee
After competitive review of hundreds of "amazing applications that were submitted, and getting significant feedback from a Community Review Panel," Bay Area Older Adults' funding request is approved. Valley Water approved two $5,000 one-year grants for an educational walking program for visually impaired persons and a comprehensive virtual program to teach Santa Clara County residents about water conservation. Click the link above to see the award notice.

Knight Foundation approves a $58,000 grant to support BAO's Multisensory Outdoor Program for Visually Impaired Persons
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation awarded BAO a three-year grant to increase access of visually impaired persons to city of San Jose parks. Click the link above to see the award letter.
Valley Water approves a $40,985 grant to support BAO's Watershed Waste Reduction Program
BAO partnered with Santa Clara County Department of Aging and Adult Services, the Health Trust and Valley Water to promote the safe and easy disposal of over-the-counter and prescription medicines in our county. This program prevents health problems, accidental poisoning, drug abuse and contamination of our drinking water. Bay Area Older Adults Receives BAO receives $30,000 Santa Clara County Grant
Santa Clara County Supervisors Dave Cortese and Susan Ellenberg sponsored two grants that were unanimously approved by the Board. The funding sponsored by Susan Ellenberg supports virtual educational, art and stress reduction programs and dissemination of trustworthy information to help seniors access food, health and other resources that are so important while they shelter-in-place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bay Area Older Adults' Receives $10,000 from the Knight Foundation
On September 22, 2020, the San Jose City Council approved $7 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds to invest in the City’s most vulnerable populations of which $3.35 million was allocated toward direct assistance to non-profit organizations. Through a partnership with the Knight Foundation, 14 CRF Nonprofit Grant Program applicants received grants through their donor-advised fund at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Bay Area Older Adults was funded by the Knight Foundation for visually impaired older adult programs. Please click the link above to read the report.

Bay Area Older Adults' Receives $95,000 from Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority
On December 10, 2020, Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority Board of Directors approved a $95,561 three-year grant for Bay Area Older Adults' Trailblazers Program, an environmental education walking program that increases access to open spaces for our most vulnerable older adults – visually impaired and blind (VIPs) and widowed. The program is tailored to the specific needs of these two populations. For example, each VIP walk provides multisensory learning about nature. The goal of the program is to increase environmental stewardship, encourage social engagement and physical activity to improve overall health.
