VIP Japantown Tour

Did you know that San Jose's Japantown is one of only three surviving Japantowns in the United States? Two expert guides led us on 1.5 mile walk through San Jose's Japantown. We learned about Japanese American History from immigration to WWII internment to resettlement and celebration. We touched the carved monuments that symbolized different parts of Japanese American history and visited the symbolic benches, the Issei Memorial Building, Nikkei lantern, Issei Voices, the Buddhist Church and more. BAO thanks Open Space Authority and Knight Foundation for their program support and our partners at Vista Center for the Blind.
