Walk & Wine History
As we walked along the hills of Fremont Older Open Space Preserve above Cooper Garrod Vineyards, we had views of the Valley, native shrubs, grassland and trees including Coyote Brush, Coast Live Oak and California Bay with some Buckeye and patches of chaparral and Toyon. We climbed up to Maisie’s peak, the highest point in the park, for a 360 degree view of San Francisco and Mount Tam, Mount Hamilton, the Santa Cruz Mountains and Mt Umunhum. Along the way, we learned about California wine history. At the end of walk, we enjoyed a picnic lunch. This hike was made possible by the support of Midpen.
