Join us for an leisurely walk along the sloughs, San Francisquito Creek and the marshlands, a major migratory flyway for birds. Our expert Audubon guide will find and teach us about birds and native plants and teach us about the California native plant habitats and the ecosystems in this park. We will end the day with a social picnic lunch. This special program is hosted in partnership with Valley Water.

Lecture 3 Healthy Lungs

Join this FREE virtual presentation to learn how to keep your lungs healthy and avoid lung disease from our nonprofit partner, Breathe California. She will explain common sources of indoor and outdoor pollution and how it affects the air quality of our homes and community. We will learn how to track air quality so we can reduce our exposure and avoid the negative health effects of air pollution.


Hike 20 Walk & Wine History

Wednesday November 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

As we walk along the hills of Fremont Older Open Space Preserve above Cooper Garrod Vineyards, we will see views of the Valley, native shrubs, grassland and trees including Blue Elderberry, Coyote Brush, Coast Live Oak and California Bay with some Buckeye and patches of chaparral and Toyon. You can climb up to Maisie’s peak, the highest point in the park, for a 360 degree view of Silicon Valley and beyond. On clear days, San Francisco and Mount Tamalpais are visible to the north, Mount Hamilton to the east, the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west, and Mount Umunhum to the south. Along the way, we learn about California wine history. At the end of walk, we will stop for wine tasting at Cooper Garrod winery (optional and not included) before we head to our picnic lunch.
