Berryessa Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers. Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Berryessa Garden is two acres in size.

Bestor Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Bestor Art Garden is one quarter of an acre in size.

Calabazas Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Calabazas Garden is one acre in size.

Charles Street Gardens (Sunnyvale)

Located on one acre of City of Sunnyvale land, Charles Street Gardens is a Sunnyvale Community garden run entirely by volunteers.  It is home to 92 resident only plots full of flowers, fruits, vegetables and other plants in 92 large plots. Gardeners must use organic methods and can only plant California native plants to ensure sustainability. They have gardening seminars, plant sales and other community activities.  You can apply for your own plot or volunteer to take care of the Food Forest and other public plots. 

Cornucopia Community Garden (San Jose)

Coyote Creek Community Garden (San Jose)

Cupertino Community Gardens (Cupertino)

The Cupertino Community Gardens is an organic garden with over 60 plots.

Discovery Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Discovery Garden is one acre in size.

Edith Johnson Garden (Palo Alto)

This community garden is within the 2.5 acres Johnson Park.  The park was named after Dr. Edith Eugenie Johnson, a physician in Palo Alto from 1907 until the 1960s, she brought more than 3,500  babies into this world.

El Jardin Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The El Jardin Garden is three acres in size.

El Quito Community Garden (Saratoga)

This garden has 17 plots that are managed by the city of Saratoga. There is a compost pile for people to use. There is a waiting list for a plot.

Eleanor Pardee Garden (Palo Alto)

This is home to two gardens with a total of 7300 sq ft.  The first garden is a demonstration garden that presents innovative approaches to edible landscaping, seasonally appropriate vegetable and fruit selections, methods of trellising, staking, soil preparation, and the use of mulch materials.  The second garden is open to the public.  It is the Waterwise Nature Garden with low water requirement plants like California native and Mediterranean climate plants.

Guadalupe Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. The Guadalupe Garden is one acre in size and has 29 regular plots (20 ft x 20 ft and some 15 ft x 20 ft) and 4 accessible raised beds.  There is a shade structure, picnic tables, barbeque, compost bins, tool shed, and a sink for washing produce.  There are restrooms available in nearby in Columbus Park.  Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.

Hamline Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Hamline Garden is approximately one acre in size.

Jesse Frey Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. La Colina Community Garden (San Jose)

Laguna Seca Community Garden (San Jose)

Mayfair Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Mayfair Garden is 3.5 acres in size.

Mountain View Community Garden (Mountain View)

The garden is open to Mountain View residents who grow flowers, fruits and vegetables.  Hoses and water are supplied free.  There is a shed for garden tools that are shared by the gardeners and four picnic tables for sitting and socializing.  Generallly there is a waiting list to receive a plot.

Nuestra Tierra Community Garden (San Jose)

San Jose has 19 community gardens that are managed by volunteers . Plots range in size from 10 ft x10 ft to 20 ftx30 ft and are assigned to residents on a first come, first served basis. Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Please note, there is an application process and typically a waiting list for some of the gardens.  The Nuestra Tierra Garden is five acres in size.

Palo Alto Main Community Garden (Palo Alto)

This garden is 60,000 square feet with 129 plots for organic gardening.  There are fruits, vegetables, flowers, insects including butterflies, benches to sit.  They supply water and garden tools.  This is a volunteer garden.

Pueblo de Dios Community Garden (San Jose)

Rainbow Community Garden (San Jose)

Wallenberg Community Garden (San Jose)

Gardeners grow everything organically, from vegetables and herbs to flowers and fruit. Willowgate Community Garden (Mountain View)

There are 105 individual plots, all with a long waitlist.
