Fun in Woodside
Filoli is an historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century. The house is an interpretive museum exhibit and the gardens contain a huge and diverse collection of plants. Volunteer opportunities include becoming a House or Garden docent, assisting the horticultural staff with maintaining the Garden, helping with the art exhibits and classes, event planning or many other opportunities.
The Woodside Store is operated for the Department of Parks by the San Mateo County Historical Association. It is an historical site specifically, State Registered Landmark No. 93 and National Register Landmark. Built in 1854, it is a fully restored wooden structure once as a general store, post office, and dental office during the prime of logging industry in Woodside. It is now a museum that displays 1800 period goods that a wagon maker, lumberman, or blacksmith would purchase and other artifacts. Volunteer to be a docent working at the Store or giving students tour, make special presentations and exhibits.
