ITINERARY

Expert-Guided Condor Hike

We head to Pinnacles National Park for a 600 foot, one-mile morning hike up to Condor Gulch Overlook to try to catch a glimpse of the iconic and critically endangered California condor. Our guide is a California Naturalist and Environmental Scientist who will teach us about these majestic birds. Once on the verge of extinction, we are now lucky to have over 100 wild, free flying condors who call the Central Coast home. We will have a scope to spot perching condors. Condors do not migrate and are observed in this area year-round. They move frequently within their expanding territory, now ranging as far as Livermore to the north, Ventura County to the south, Big Sur to the west, and up through the Sierras near Mariposa to the east Condor Drying Its Wings at the Condor Gulch Overlook, photo by Tara Johnson

Mouth-watering BBQ

For lunch, we have a BBQ feast. Our caterer is a family-run business that starts with the finest quality meats, seasons them with their time tested rubs, and smokes them with California oak wood to achieve the perfect harmony of smoke and flavor. There will be vegetarian and gluten-free options. There will be unique alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase with lunch. BBQ lunch

Apricot Orchard Tour & Tasting

Did you know that apricots are an excellent source of iron, potassium, and vitamin A? After lunch, we visit a family owned and operated apricot orchard whose business has been in the family for nearly 100 years. They grow, prune, dry, pack and sell bursting-with-flavor California Blenheim apricots as well as walnuts. They also have other dried fruit – peaches, pears, prunes, bing cherries – which they cover in chocolate and make jams! Dried & Dark Chocolate-covered Fruit and Jam

At the farm, we will take a tour, learn about their process of producing dried fruits and nuts, and taste a variety of their products including dried apricots, peaches, pears, prunes, bing cherries in addition to their nuts and jams. We will even taste chocolate covered fruit! Sun-dried Apricots
